At the beginning of the discussion of the issues put on the agenda, the rector of the university Valerii Zaporozhan presented certificates from the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa Regional State Administration to professors Ludmila Wenger, Leonid Godlevsky and docent Elena Rudinska; Vasyl Shtanko, the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 2, was awarded a certificate of honor from the Southern Scientific Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for his significant personal contribution to the education of scientific personnel and on the occasion of Science Day; The head of the “Expert Health” clinic, associate professor Denys Khramtsov, was thanked for his high professionalism and humanism. The rector also congratulated Serhiy Tertyshny on receiving the diploma of Doctor of Sciences; Valerii Aplevych, Hanna Shevchuk, and Yaroslav Wenger — with certificates of associate professor.
In order to optimize the work of the university, the rector proposed changes to the structure and staffing of Odesa National Medical University. In particular, the current significant decrease in the number of higher education graduates of the university under objective circumstances has led to a decrease in teachers’ rates and the need to merge departments. According to the rector of ONMedU, this is a forced temporary measure. “The philosophy of our institution is social support, so it is necessary to preserve the scientific and pedagogical composition of the university through cooperation in various departments, including postgraduate education. I am sure that after the end of the war, both domestic and foreign students will return to our institution, and we will work in the same mode as until February 2022,” Valerii Zaporozhan emphasized.
The head of the Department of Surgery, Professor Volodymyr Grubnik reported on the contribution of surgical departments to the further development of scientific surgical schools in recent years and future prospects. He noted that ONMedU was and remains a leader in Ukraine in the development and implementation of minimally invasive endoscopic operations. Thanks to the active position of the rector, Academician Valerii Zaporozhan, surgical departments have the opportunity to be the first in Ukraine to use the latest minimally invasive technologies in surgery and gynecology. “But we cannot and will not rest on our laurels. We have many plans and tasks for the future. And we, as always, intend to resolve them at a high level for the sake of the health of our citizens,” noted Professor Hrubnyk.
In accordance with the agenda, the Academic Council supported the candidacies of nine employees of various departments of the institution for the award of the academic title of professor and associate professor.
The head of the internship department Viktoriya Eduardivna Khatsko reported on the peculiarities of training and admission to the internship in 2024, the results of passing “KROK-3” license integrated exam. “This year, in accordance with the Orders of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, amendments were made to the Internship Regulations. The first significant change is that the rating distribution is carried out for graduates both by state and contractual order. The second is that graduates who studied under a state order and refused the received offers have the right to undergo an additional rating distribution no earlier than a year later. As for the results of passing KROK-3 — the final exam for interns, almost one hundred percent of higher education seekers of all specialties successfully passed this test. Our goal is the successful completion of 100% of interns, for which we have developed ways to improve the quality of training in internships,” said Victoria Khatsko.
The “Regulations on the financial responsibility of employees” of ONMedU, “Regulations on paid services of Odesa National Medical University”, as well as the educational and scientific program “Pediatrics”, the educational and professional program “Training of reserve officers of the medical service” of the postgraduate level of higher education were approved.
