To Kobzar’s birthday

Taras Shevchenko‘s birthday is celebrated in Ukraine on March 9. It was on this day, in 1814, that a man of God was born, who became not only one of the brightest representatives of Ukrainian culture, but also manifested for centuries the full power of inner strength, courage, dignity and national consciousness of the entire Ukrainian people.

Traditionally, on March 9, many different events take place throughout the country and in Odesa – flower-laying ceremonies, concerts, exhibitions, Shevchenko readings, and more. For obvious reasons, this year all this is not of such a massive nature, and despite the difficulties, Ukrainians honor the memory of their Kobzar with love.

Thus, the Odesa National Medical University library organized a number of events dedicated to Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko’s birthday.
