For the second academic year in a row, the Department of Social Sciences has been ensuring the active work of the Lecture and Conversation Club. During this period, the department’s teachers, under the leadership of Associate Professor Olрa Sikorska, have held lectures and workshops on various topics.
On March 17, 2025, within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation between ONMedU and New Europe College – Institute for Advanced Study (Bucharest, Romania), the first guest lecture was held. An important topic – “Civil Society in Ukraine: Experience of Solidarity during War” – was presented by the invited speaker, researcher of New Europe College – Institute for Advanced Study (Bucharest, Romania), Candidate of Political Science, Associate Professor Oleksandra Demyanenko.
During the online lecture, the role of civil society in Ukraine in times of war was highlighted, attention was paid to the transformation of civil society organizations, their adaptation to new conditions and the continuation of important projects focused on humanitarian and social support, as well as the implementation of reforms. The development of volunteering and strengthening solidarity in times of war were separately considered. More than 100 listeners joined the broadcast.
The event was moderated by Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Sciences Olena Uvarova.
