ONMedU: Mental Health Symposium

 

On October 21,Mental Health Symposium “The Art of Resilience” was held in the Student Hub (main building), initiated by the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, Medical Psychology and Psychotherapy of ONMedU.

The scientific and practical event is a relevant interdisciplinary initiative aimed at uniting specialists in the fields of medicine, psychology, humanitarian education and social work in order to find effective ways to preserve and restore human mental well-being. Of particular importance is the formation of a culture of care for mental health, overcoming the stigmatization of mental disorders, increasing the level of psychoeducation in society and preparing future doctors and psychologists to work with post-traumatic conditions.

The event was held in the form of a conference. Its structure included three sectional blocks, summaries and communication in the Student Hub.

The symposium was opened by the head of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, Medical Psychology and Psychotherapy Yevhen OPRYA.

The rector of ONMedU, academician Valerшш ZAPOROZHAN, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, who suggested gathering and using the open integrative space in the future.

Vice-rector for Educational Work Konstiantyn TALALAYEV presented the possibilities of an interactive whiteboard with AI.

Special guests of the event – representatives of the Red Cross branch in the Odesa region, headed by Iryna LUPASHKO, spoke about the activities of their organization and the relevant trainings that must be completed in order to become a Red Cross volunteer.

The symposium considered many topics, including the issues of emotional stability of all participants in the educational process, the impact of social networks on the mental state of young people, and presented the results of an anonymous survey among applicants. A training on increasing the level of stress resistance was conducted.

Such events will contribute to the expansion of scientific and practical dialogue between specialists in various fields; the dissemination of modern approaches to the diagnosis, prevention and rehabilitation of mental disorders; the strengthening of the mental health system at the institutional level; the development of initiatives focused on student and public well-being in higher education.
