This year they were dedicated to the 211th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko, the great Ukrainian poet, talented artist, public figure, and the 185th anniversary of the publication of the first edition of “Kobzar” (1840) – a book that was destined to become an epoch-making guide in the history of the Ukrainian people.
The creative component of the event was an art exhibition and performances by musicians. The general public was invited to the poem by T.G. Shevchenko “The Monk” was presented with an original painting-illustration by Amvrosy Zhdakha “In Kyiv on the Hem” from the collection of the famous Odessa collector, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Honorary Member of the National Union of Local Loreologists of Ukraine and the Odessa Society of Collectors, Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Taras Maksym’yuk. For the third year in a row, Ukrainians will honor the memory of the Great Kobzar in the conditions of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine. Today, more than ever, the word of our national prophet is relevant and takes on a new meaning, because the works of Taras Shevchenko are an eternal source of strength, indomitability, and inspiration on the path of truth and freedom.
