Forever in our hearts

On July 10, the Day of Remembrance of the Fallen Medics, events dedicated to this date were held at Odessa National Medical University.

Fresh flowers were laid at the foot of the monument to the Sorrowful Mother near the main building. A tribute of respect and honor to the feat of the glorious graduates of the university, who, saving others, sacrificed the most precious thing – their lives. Their self-sacrifice will forever remain in our memory and hearts.

In the historical museum, the staff of the ONMedU library updated the museum exhibition dedicated to honoring the memory of fallen medical workers – graduates of the university. The exhibition is decorated with a symbol – a white doctor’s coat left on an empty chair, an image of a heart with a burning staff of the ancient Greek god of medicine Asclepius, in confirmation of the catchphrase Consumor aliis inserviendo.

Candles of remembrance were lit in the museum, library, admissions office, and other departments of the university — an opportunity to resurrect in your imagination the images of every friend, colleague, or former student who died in the war.

The meeting of the Academic Council, scheduled for 2:00 p.m., began with a minute of silence accompanied by the sound signal of remembrance, which sounded at that time in all educational and medical institutions of Ukraine.

Our film crew prepared a video that captures the meeting in the historical museum of the members of the families of the deceased — Associate Professor of ONMedU Volodymyr Ivanovych Synenko and Olga Kyshenko, a graduate of ONMedU, with students.

Yes, it is very difficult for us to experience and remember our fallen sons, friends, colleagues, and brothers, but we are together, and as long as we remember them, talk about them, and create a Book of Memory — they will always live with us…
