Student Tournament “Journey along the Cardiometabolic Continuum”

The Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 hosted the student tournament “Journey along the Cardiometabolic Continuum”, which attracted the attention of 4th–6th year medical students. The team of 5th and 6th year higher education seekers of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 2 (scientific supervisor — Assoc. Prof. M. M. Perepelyuk) participated in the event as guests.

The tournament was opened by Dr. M. S., Professor, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 Yuriy Karpenko.

The jury included: Head of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 Assoc. Prof. O. V. Potapchuk, Assoc. Prof. of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 2 M. M. Perepelyuk, Assistants of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 I. G. Yurdanova, K. V. Kravtsova and T. V. Alavatskaya.

Four teams competed: “Carotid Dance” (captain O. Razinkin), “Adipocytes” (G. Zaichenko), “Rhythm” (M. Dzyuban) and “Delta-Band” (E. Chaban).

The competition consisted of three stages: a quiz test with 24 questions and a test of general medical knowledge, the “Crocodile” game – staging clinical conditions using appropriate improvised means, using only verbal speech. This round helped to reveal not only the depth of knowledge, but also revealed the artistry and expressiveness of the competition participants; solving a clinical problem: the two teams that reached the final had to solve each of the problems in writing in five minutes and justify their answer, as well as answer the jury’s questions.

During the tournament, some questions made you not only think, but also smile. The audience was in an atmosphere of concentration and struggle for victory. All participants were active and showed the acquired skills.

As awards, the participants received certificates, diplomas and useful prizes that will be useful for their further professional growth.

The Delta-Band team, which took the  1st place, received as an award the textbook “Professional Communication. Doctor-Patient Communication Protocols” edited by Dr. M. Sc., Professor, First Vice-Rector of ONMedU Valeria Marichereda with a nice inscription from her.

The organizer of the tournament — Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 — is very grateful to the applicants for their interest and desire to constantly improve their knowledge. And the team members are grateful to the organizers for their ingenuity and providing the opportunity to plunge into the world of cardiology and endocrinology.
