Recently, first-year medical students got acquainted with the activities of the University Clinic – the Center for Reconstructive and Restorative Medicine and the Multidisciplinary Medical Center.
Future therapists, surgeons, pediatricians, endocrinologists and even chief physicians, who today have just begun their ascent to the heights of Medicine and are still learning “general” subjects, received incredible impressions from what they saw. Acquaintance with the ONMedU clinic filled them with confidence that the profession they chose is the best and most necessary for preserving people’s lives and health.
We asked the first-year students one question: “What did you like most during the tour?”
Darya Yurchenko: “This was my first acquaintance with the work of the gynecological department. We visited the operating room, the ultrasound room, talked to the doctors and were pleasantly surprised by how attentive and sensitive they are to each patient. I realized that I really like the field of women’s health and I would like to work here.
Karolina Tumanyan-Zlenska: “I was interested in seeing the modern equipment used by ophthalmologists. I carefully watched how the doctor diagnoses the patient’s vision. They explained the difference between the types of visual impairments and even allowed us to try out some of the devices ourselves.”
Marina Oreshko: “It was a valuable experience for us, first-year students, to see how doctors work in the delivery room. We heard stories from the practice of obstetricians and gynecologists, about complex cases. I understood what a difficult field of medicine this is and how important this work is.”
Daniele Semenyuk: “Thanks to the excursion to the University Clinic, ophthalmology turned out to be a much deeper science for me than I had imagined before. I watched with interest how the doctors conducted the reception of patients: attentively, consistently, explaining everything that worries each patient.”
Ivan Skoratenko: “What impressed me most was the atmosphere of the surgical department: silence, concentration, teamwork. The doctors shared their own experience with us, told us about their first operations. All this left an unforgettable impression on me. I became interested in surgery and realized that I really would like to choose this specialty.”
Hryhoriy Kucheruk: “For the first time in my life, I visited the surgical department of the University Clinic. Here, everything is thought out to the smallest detail, everything matters. We were shown surgical instruments and how the operating room is prepared. This interested me the most and motivates me to learn even more, because a doctor needs a large amount of knowledge and constant self-improvement, it is necessary to constantly be up to date with modern achievements in medicine.
Sofia Bykova: “In the therapeutic department, we were told about the peculiarities of its work, about how medical histories are drawn up, how doctors interact with nurses during the reception, how they communicate with patients. I believe that it is very important that from the first year we get acquainted with the practical work of doctors.”
Olga Osypenko: “This excursion gave us all a huge motivation. We saw how the real work of doctors of different specialties takes place. And I want to expand my knowledge, skills, worldview, listen to every word, comments and advice of our mentors and learn, learn, learn!”
