“Shevchenko Days” at the Department of Social Sciences

Traditionally, in March, the Department of Social Sciences holds “Shevchenko Days” to mark Taras Shevchenko’s birthday in order to promote the creative heritage and affirm the spiritual precepts of the prominent figure. To intensify the educational work among student youth, online events were organized to honor the memory of the Ukrainian poet and artist. On March 9-19, lines from Taras Shevchenko’s works were heard, students recalled the main stages of the Kobzar’s difficult life.

Teachers of the department held a number of events: reports and presentations, poetry classes, conversations about art. The staff of the department always involves foreign students who recite selected poems.

Taras Shevchenko’s name has become a symbol of Ukraine. He is called the people’s prophet, the titan of the spirit, who mourned the fate of the native people and left his descendants a spiritual testament that is passed down from generation to generation.
