The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of ONMedU annually trains more than 250-300 trainee doctors. Already this academic year, 280 trainee doctors have been trained in 8 cycles of thematic improvement: “Current issues of obstetrics and gynecology”, “Modern principles of diagnosis and treatment of cervical pathology. Colposcopy”, “Extragenital pathology in obstetrics”, “Emergencies in obstetrics and gynecology”, “Modern aspects of childbirth”, “Oncogynecological aspects in the practice of an obstetrician-gynecologist”, “Surgical technologies in the treatment of genital prolapse”.
On April 21–28, 2025, at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, on the basis of the Multidisciplinary Medical Center of ONMedU (9 Pastera St.), a cycle of thematic improvement “Surgical technologies in the treatment of genital prolapse” was held. 33 trainee doctors who provide surgical gynecological care to patients in Odessa, Chornomorsk, Rozdilna, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Izmail, Odessa region, underwent training. In addition to the employees of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of ONMedU, urologists (Associate Professor Petrovskyi Yu. Yu.) were invited to distance learning (lectures) by Professor Banakhevich Roman Mykhailovych (Dnipro State Medical University) and Professor Safonov Roman Anatolyovich (Kharkiv National Medical University). During two days, April 24 and 25, the trainee doctors participated in operations performed by leading surgeons of the department (head of the department, Professor Gladchuk I. Z., Associate Professor Kozhakov V. L., Associate Professor Chekhanov Yu. A., and invited expert surgeon, Professor Banakhevich R. M. (Dnipro State Medical University). Reconstructive and obstructive laparoscopic and vaginal surgical interventions were performed on 8 patients with severe and recurrent forms of utero-vaginal, paravaginal and posthysterectomy prolapse, stress urinary incontinence, laparoscopic cervicovaginopexies with a T-shaped mesh implant with bilateral fixation to the aponeurosis of the anterior abdominal wall, vaginal hysterectomies, anterior and posterior colporrhaphy, sacrospinal fixations with a mesh implant, colpocleisis, transobturator sling urethropexies, etc.
The possibility of direct participation in operations together with leading experts improves the quality and practical orientation of training, allows maintaining inter-university and inter-departmental ties.
