Feedback on the International Training on Stopping Bleeding from ONMedU students

Bleeding is one of the most difficult complications after injuries and traumas with damage to main or peripheral vessels. Internal bleeding with damage to the organs of the abdominal and thoracic cavities is no less a threat. Timely stopping of bleeding determines and gives a chance for life. Mastering all modern methods of stopping bleeding increases the chances of life for both military and civilian people. This is especially relevant nowadays.

Thanks to Odesa National Medical University, we students of the 6th year of the Faculty of Medicine – Svitlana Sadayivna Pirieva and Anastasia Oleksandrivna Patskova had the opportunity to attend an international training on stopping bleeding with the latest protocols and innovations.

At this training, for an hour, a lecture was held at which we were reminded about various types of wounds and bleeding.

After the theoretical part, practical work was carried out to practice each type of bleeding stopping skills, without limiting us in terms of time and the use of auxiliary material. We remembered how to properly stop bleeding and tamponade a wound on all parts of the body (starting from the head and ending with the limbs) with the help of various accessories (tourniquets,  etc.). Thanks to this theoretical and practical skills training we will be able to stop any bleeding in the household and in our professional activity.

After the training, the acquired knowledge was evaluated in the form of a test, which we confidently completed without errors, then we were given certificates of completion, we were also presented with a magazine containing the latest protocols for stopping bleeding, the correctness of actions and full-fledged, high-quality, multifunctional and very convenient first aid kits for manipulations to stop bleeding.

This training not only replenished the baggage of our vast knowledge, but also once again inspired and motivated us that we are on the right path and have chosen the noblest specialty!

We are really grateful to Odesa National Medical University for the opportunity to gain new knowledge and attend free international standard trainings!
