February 24

On the morning of February 24, 2022, Ukraine woke up to the sounds of explosions. Russia launched a full-scale invasion, violating all international norms and agreements. This day became a black page in the history of our country, dividing life into “before” and “after”.

The first hours of the invasion were chaotic and full of fear. People in panic tried to leave big cities, creating huge traffic jams on the roads. Someone hid in the subway, someone in the basements of their own houses. Air raid sirens sounded from everywhere, and reports of the first victims and destruction appeared in the news.

The Ukrainian army, despite the numerical superiority of the enemy, gave a worthy rebuff. The Armed Forces of Ukraine showed incredible courage and heroism, stopping the advance of Russian troops in many directions. The whole world saw the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people, their willingness to fight for their freedom and independence.

February 24 became a symbol of unity among Ukrainians. Volunteers, doctors, rescuers – everyone did everything they could to help their country. People from all over the world expressed support for Ukraine, sending humanitarian aid and condemning Russian aggression.

February 24 is a day of sorrow and pain, but at the same time – a day of hope and faith in victory. We will never forget this day and will do everything possible to make Ukraine a free and prosperous country. That is why, under the leadership of the head of the Department of Social Sciences, Olha Sikorska, the teachers of the department will hold conversations and organize performances with the participation of higher education seekers, so that this day will always remain in memory.
