In recent days, Odesa has experienced extremely harsh nights and days. The circumstances were very difficult, and every resident of the city felt it. But, despite everything, Odessa National Medical University continues to live, work and think about the future.
On Thursday, February 20, teachers and representatives of the Student Government went to the cities of Podilsk and Ananiev to continue the work on career guidance, which was started in November last year. For graduates of Podilsk Medical College and Lyceums No. 1 and 2 of Ananiev, interesting and meaningful stories about the university and trainings on providing emergency medical care were prepared.
A graduate of one of the lyceums, Sofiika, said that she had dreamed of becoming a doctor since the 7th grade. And an example for her is her grandmother, who once entered Odessa Medical Institute as many as three times and only on the fourth time became a student. Grandma has been working as a district doctor for over 30 years. And granddaughter Sofiyka even goes with her on calls, carefully watching how grandma communicates with patients. “I am sure that I will become a doctor,” said the girl. And we have no doubt about it!
Representatives of ONMedU told future applicants about the glorious 125-year journey of our institution, about the activities of world-famous scientists who worked here — epidemiologist D. K. Zabolotny, ophthalmologist V. P. Filatov, surgeon I. Ya. Deineka, pediatrician B. Ya. Reznik, therapist M. O. Yasinovsky.
ONMedU applicants spoke about the advantages and features of studying at different faculties, about the electronic library, where you can get any monograph from any part of the world, as well as about the diverse student life at the university – about the opportunity to join scientific work in the circles that operate at each department, about preparing reports at scientific conferences, about practice at ONMedU clinical bases, about the incredible sports complex.
The attendees were very impressed by the training in providing emergency medical care: everyone wanted to try to apply a tourniquet, stop bleeding, make a bandage, learn how to act in case of limb fractures, etc.
During these meetings, it was possible to see how many young men and women in Ananiev and Podilsk were seriously interested in their future professional path and the possibility of entering a medical university. They have a desire to master the most necessary profession on Earth, and ONMedU has created all the conditions for them to gain knowledge and skills under the guidance of experienced teachers, and most importantly, to be convinced of the correctness of their conscious choice.
