Department of Ophthalmology of ONMedU

On September 25, 1903, Professor Serhii Selivanovych Holovin gave an introductory lecture on ophthalmology at the medical faculty of Novorossiysk University in Odesa. This is how the Department and Clinic of Ophthalmology of Odesa National Medical University began its almost 120-year history.

It was Serhii Holovin who became the first head of the department. The famous scientist left a bright mark in domestic and world ophthalmology. Among the luminaries of the department are academician Filatov V.P., professors Kalfa S.F., Puchkivska N.A., Cherkasov I.S., Wenger G.Yu., Logai I.M. They developed ophthalmological science in Odesa and raised it to the world level.

The modern Department of Ophthalmology of ONMedU continues its glorious history and holds the high mark of an international center for the study of eye diseases.
