Every third Tuesday of the month, members of the student scientific circle (students of the 2nd-6th year of education) meet at the department of propaedeutics of pediatrics to discuss current issues of pediatrics, approaches to the differential diagnosis of diseases in children, analyze interesting clinical cases, and practice the skills of consulting families on issues of growth , development and nutrition of children, etc. Also, as part of the group’s work, simulation trainings on providing pre-medical care to children are held.
One of the simulation trainings took place on February 20, 2024. Members of the group learned the skills of providing assistance in case of massive bleeding to children and adults in civilian conditions during the “Stop the bleed” ACS training. It was conducted by certified instructors of the course — associate professor Tetyana Khimenko, assistant Anastasia Pirogova, as well as our active group members — 4th-year students of the medical faculty Maria Velikova, Elizaveta Morgunova, and Alina Overchuk were involved as instructor assistants. The participants of the training showed high interest and motivation while practicing the skills of wound tamponade , applying a pressure bandage and a tourniquet. After the theoretical and practical part, team work on situational tasks was carried out to consolidate the material. All participants completed the training program in full and received an international certificate.
