Continuous Medical Education

Odessa National Medical University, in the line with modern educational trends, has got innovative simulation equipment, which has become a new breath for the educational process. New simulation technologies can bring significant qualitative changes not only at the pregraduate, but also at the postgraduate stage of education.

The first inter-regional training “Emergency Conditions in Obstetrics” was held in Podilsk city on May 19, 2018 under the direction of the Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 1 of ONMedU, MD, professor I.Z. Gladchuk through joint efforts of the Director (V.O.Polyasny) and the chief specialist (T.P.Chuev) of the Department of Health of Odessa Regional State Administration.

In the status of regional regional trainers, associate professor O. M. Pavlovska and assistant O.P. Borshchov conducted a course of stimulation training on the topics: “Dystocia of Fetal Shoulders”, “Severe Preclampsy, Eclampsy “, “Hypotonic Bleeding”. Doctors and nurses-midwives from Podilsk, Balta and Lyubashivsky, Kodimsky, Oknyansky, Zakharievsky and Ananivsky regions were able to work out current practical skills on modern phantoms as well as algorithms of action in different cases, to improve the team work of medical staff in urgent situations in obstetrics and to exchange their experience.

Ability to train on simulation equipment with the use of interactive teaching methods will improve the level of quality of theoretical and practical training of students and doctors at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology number 1 of ONMedU. Consequently, the initiated form of continuous medical education will improve the quality of provision of medical care to the female population of the South of Ukraine.
