To the 100th anniversary of the glorious department

On October 26, a scientific and practical conference “Actual issues of phthisiology and pulmonology: innovative directions for the treatment of tuberculosis and COPD” was held in the sports complex of ONMedU in a mixed format, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Department of Phthisiopulmonology of ONMedU.

The participants of the conference were greeted by the rector of ONMedU academician V. M. Zaporozhan. Valerii Mykolayovych noted that despite the difficult times, the educational and scientific process continues in full at the university, conferences and trainings are held. Highly qualified doctors of the University Clinics, as before, provide assistance to everyone who needs it. Students and teachers are actively involved in charity work. International cooperation and exchange of experience are being carried out successfully.

“The ONMedU team knows how to work, our efforts are aimed at training high-level specialists, conducting scientific research, treating patients, planning the future and implementing our ideas into life.

And the current conference, dedicated to an important date in the history of the university, is a clear confirmation of that,” Valerii Zaporozhan emphasized.

The conference was opened by the head of the Department of Phthisiopulmonology, Professor N. A. Matsegora, with a report on the topic “100-year history of the Department of Phthisiopulmonology: from the origins to the present.”

The conference participants discussed topical issues of tuberculosis treatment and prevention, as well as clinical cases of this disease associated with HIV infection.
