On November 2, 2017, the second intellectual contest “Freshman’s Debut”, organized by the students’ self-government, the trade union of students and the student’s scientific society of ONMedU, took place in lecture hall No. 1 of the main building of ONMedU.
The subject of the event was “Vaccination”. The aim of the competition was to increase the cognitive interest and educational motivation, to develop the skills of logical thinking and the culture of speaking in the first year students.
There were 5 student teams registered in the game with 5 participants in each. The event was held in three stages:
Stage I – “Greeting of the teams”. At this stage, the jury members evaluated creativity of the teams, their motto, emblem, support group and common element of clothing.
Stage II – “Team Competition”. At this stage, the teams were divided by lots. Each team elaborated on its subject:
Stage III – quiz “True or False”. At this stage of the competition, all the teams were asked 20 questions, which the participants had to answer “True or False.”
During the competition the students showed all their abilities: high level of mastery of the material, ability to defend their opinion during discussions convincingly, as well as well coordinated teamwork and creative approach.
After completing the competition stage, a candidate of medical sciences, an associate professor of the department of propaedeutics of pediatrics, a doctor of the highest category, national coach of UNICEF Katerina Oleksandrivna Gurienko helped to resolve disputes and summarize the results.
The assessment of the performance of the teams was carried out by a highly professional jury, which included: the chairman of the jury – prof. O.L. Kholodkova, prof. K.O.Talalayev , prof. V.V. Godovan, prof. T.V. Chaban , prof. L.S. Godlevsky, prof. S.G. Kotyuzhinskaya, prof. O. G. Yushkovskaya, prof. A.I. Danilenko, associate prof. K.O. Gurienko , associate pro.f V.V. Valda, associate prof. V.Yu. Anisimov, associate prof. Ya.F.Burdin , associate prof. N.A Levitskaya.
After counting the scores the winners were identified:
The winning teams were awarded with diplomas, medals and interesting literature.
It should be noted that the event was held at a high level, the contest was interesting and useful for students, which indicates its importance.
