February 11 is the World Day of the Sick

Probably, there is no person who would not fall ill with one or another disease at least once in his life. Even with good health, a person still experiences childhood illnesses at an early age, and flu or acute respiratory infections as an adult. And what can we say about the coronavirus pandemic, which, as of January 21, 2024, has affected more than 774 million people around the world!

Therefore, the World Day of the Sick affects every person on Earth and has a huge social significance. It reminds the medical community of the importance of empathy and compassion in their work, their great responsibility to patients and honors their struggle against disease and ill health.

Research staff, teachers and interns of ONMedU make a great contribution to the treatment and prevention of diseases that residents of Odesa and other regions of the country are dealing with. Sensitive attitude to each patient, understanding of their problems, treatment and subsequent rehabilitation have become a model of attitude towards patients among the medical community of the city, and consultations of leading scientists enjoy great authority among patients.

Students of higher education of ONMedU learn to communicate with potential patients – elderly people – during classes dedicated to the prevention of various diseases and a healthy lifestyle, which they conduct at the University of the Third Age, which operates in Thercenters in various districts of the city.

The education that students receive at ONMedU gives them the opportunity to become real ambassadors of health and popularize a healthy lifestyle. A lot of career guidance work is conducted among school graduates in order to show young people the importance of the profession of a doctor, nurse or paramedic, which is so necessary at all times.

Let every day in medical institutions be the Day of the Patient – with attention, care and understanding of the needs of each patient!
