Epidemiological examination of children and adults in Voznesensk Banchen Monastery was conducted

On the initiative of the Association of Dentists of Ukraine, an epidemiological survey of children and adults was conducted in the Voznesensk Banchen Monastery, which is located in the village of Molnytsia, Hertsaiv district, Chernivtsi region.

Employees of the Department of Therapeutic and Pediatric Dentistry of Odesa National Medical University were invited to take part in this event due to their many years of experience in conducting epidemiological studies.

An orphanage is under the care of the monastery, where 400 orphans are raised, 70 of them are HIV-infected. All children underwent clinical, biochemical, biophysical, molecular genetic and optical studies, which allowed doctors to develop individualized schemes for the prevention of caries and periodontal tissue diseases for children.

In 2025, it is planned to carry out repeated examinations, since the children were prescribed a prevention program and were given toothpastes, brushes, and mouth rinses from the dental companies “Lacalut” and “Colgate”. The employees of ONMedU developed attractions for all age groups, including adults, studied the nutritional characteristics of monks, conducted a multifactorial analysis, which made it possible to draw conclusions in correlation with clinical status.
