Embroidered Shirt Day at ONMedU 2021

Ukrainian embroidered shirt is a shrine of the people, a symbol of spiritual wealth, wisdom, happiness, love and family memory.

Under the leadership of the head of the Department of Social Sciences, Associate Professor O.O. Sikorska various events are held before the Embroidered Shirt Day every year. This year this holiday fell on May 20. Quarantine conditions have changed the form to the online one. Students put on embroidered shirts and joined the all-Ukrainian celebration.

On May 14 for 1st year students of 1-6 groups of the medical faculty associate professor T.L. Podkupko gave a lecture on traditional and modern holidays of the Ukrainian people, in particular on the Embroidered Shirt Day to the 1st year students of 1-6 groups of the medical faculty . Also, the features of clothing and embroidery depending on the regions of Ukraine were considered.

On May 17, 1st year students of the 1st group of the Faculty of Dentistry got dressed in embroidered shirts and together with the teacher, associate professor O.O. Uvarova held a conversation about the importance of embroidered shirts today.

Senior teacher O.S. Shanina acquainted 1st year students of the 1st group (medical) of the international faculty with the Ukrainian national clothes.

On May 18, 1st year students of the 2nd group of the medical faculty at the suggestion of associate professor O.O. Uvarova prepared a creative essay on “Embroidery of the Native Embrace”, which suggested that the embroidered shirt is a talisman, and patterns have their meaning, that the embroidered shirt is a self-expression of the Ukrainian people, a reflection of their values ​​and homeland with its warmth and poetry.

With 1st year students of the 1st group of the medical faculty Associate professorO.O. Uvarova held a poetic event “The embroidered shirt – in poetry and heart.” with 1st year students of the 1st group of the medical faculty. Students prepared reports on “Embroidered shirts of our ancestors” (Gerasimenko D.), “Modern embroidered fashion” (Rodriguez V.), “Embroidered shirts from different regions of Ukraine” (S. Levitskaya), “Embroidered holiday and embroidered for the holiday” (Granich P .). There were lines of the modern poem “Vyshivanka” performed by A. Tyutyunova, and already known works “Two colors” and “My native mother” performed by O. Novoselov.

On May 19, 2021 the head of the department, associate professor O.O. Sikorska held an online festive meeting of the department, where she congratulated the team on the holiday. Teachers took part in the discussion of further plans for educational work.

On May 20, 2021 in groups 5 and 6 of the 1st year of the medical faculty associate professor M.M. Kulachynsky held a conversation about theEmbroidery Day, told about its history and the meaning of colors.

A beautiful embroidered shirt has long been the identifier of a Ukrainian, it is our nation’s DNA.
