Diabetes mellitus is one of the most important medico-social health problems in all countries, as it affects both adults and children.
According to the International Diabetes Federation, more than a million children in the world suffer from diabetes. In recent decades, there has been a significant increase in the incidence of type 1 diabetes, especially among young children. More than 10,000 patients under the age of 18 with type 1 diabetes are registered in Ukraine.
Such children need proper professional help to have a quality life without diabetic complications and disability, which is possible thanks to the use of modern insulin therapy and other treatment methods. Employees of the Department of Family Medicine and Polyclinic Therapy of Odessa National Medical University are actively dealing with this problem.
