Our state has been defending its freedom and independence since ancient times. Only in the last century, several important dates were recorded in its history.
On January 22, 1918, the IV Universal Assembly of the Ukrainian Central Rada proclaimed the independence of Ukraine, and exactly one year later, the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the West Ukrainian People’s Republic were united, and on July 16, 1990, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine took another step towards independence by adopting the Declaration of state sovereignty of Ukraine.
On August 24, 1991, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a historic document — the Act of Proclamation of Ukraine’s Independence and the Creation of an Independent Ukrainian State this is what generations of Ukrainians dreamed of and fought for has finally come true.
Independence Day has always been celebrated with solemn events – a military parade, laying flowers at monuments to outstanding historical figures, festivals, exhibitions and concerts. Adults and children walked on the streets and squares, festively dressed, smiling, joyful, calm, confident in the future. And how unforgettably solemn was the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence in 2021!
There was a lot of work in the young state to overcome problems. Many things had to be created and built — to develop industry, science and culture, organize new workplaces, teach, treat, make discoveries…
However, the fate of Ukraine was very difficult! It had to defend its freedom and independence in the fiercest battles since the Second World War. The aggressor seems to have lost his human mind, destroying the entire structure of our state.
For the second year, we have to celebrate Independence Day in war conditions. In the heart of every Ukrainian there is one wish: that Victory would come soon and peace would come to our blooming land and that all our heroes would return home alive.
Glory to Ukraine!
