Professor Viorelu Scripcariu is an Honorary Doctor of ONMedU

On November 23, 2023, at the regular meeting of the Academic Council of Odesa National Medical University, many issues were considered, including the appointment of Professor Viorel Scripcariu, rector of  Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Iasi, Romania, a leading specialist in the field of general surgery, liver transplantation, diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer and laparoscopic surgery, the title of Honorary Doctor of Odesa National Medical University.

The Chairman of the Academic Council, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Valerii Zaporozhan provided information on the scientific status and professional achievements of Professor Viorel Scripcariu and suggested: “Given the outstanding merits in the fields of general surgery, hepato-bilio-pancreatic surgery, prevention and control of colorectal cancer, strengthening of public health, active work in improving relations with medical schools of other countries, as well as experience and authority in the world scientific and educational community, I suggest awarding Professor Viorel Scripcariu, rector of the Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Iasi, Romania,  title “Honorary Doctor of Odesa National Medical University”.

The Academic Council approved Valerii Zaporozhan’s proposal unanimously.
