2021 was a year of international cooperation deepening for Odessa National Medical University. This was announced at a meeting of the Academic Council of ONMedU chaired by the rector, Academician Valerii Zaporozhan.
In particular, during Valerii Zaporozhan’s visit to Georgia as part of the Ukrainian government delegation, a cooperation agreement was signed with the Tbilisi Medical University. In October, ONMedU received a delegation from India. In November, Valerii Zaporozhan visited the Republic of Uzbekistan as a member of the delegation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and the process of signing a cooperation agreement with the Bukhara Medical University is underway. A number of cooperation agreements have also been signed with universities in Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, Belarus and others.
“The international activities of ONMedU are aimed at increasing the potential of the university as a prestigious educational institution in the European education and health care system, whose specialists and graduates are competitive in the national and global world professional environment. We are strengthening our position, the university is recognizable and respected in the world, ” Valerii Zaporozhan emphasized.
According to the Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching, Professor Valeria Marichereda, this year ONMedU has organized 14 training events in the form of webinars, including with the participation of foreign experts, as well as 8 scientific conferences with international participation. ONMedU continues to participate in the international project ERASMUS + “Multilevel education and training on climate services, adaptation to climate change and their mitigation at the local, national and regional levels.” Participants include the University of Helsinki (Finland), the University of Rovira and Virgili (Spain), the Estonian University of Life Sciences and others.
The efforts of ONMedU in the direction of international cooperation were praised by the jury of the XII International Exhibition “Modern Educational Institutions-2021”, in which the university won the Grand Prix in the category “International Activity” and was awarded a gold medal in the category “Creation and implementation of modern tools training, products, programs, systems and integrated solutions to improve the quality of education.
In addition, within the framework of the XIII International Exhibition “Innovation in Modern Education” and the exhibition of education abroad “World Edu” ONMedU received the honorary title of “Leader of Innovation in Education”, it was awarded the Gold Medal in the category “Implementation of innovative projects, models, systems, technologies, methods aimed at improving the quality of education. ”
The epidemiological situation did not prevent the continuation of cooperation with foreign scientists and doctors. Therefore, the world-class specialist in plastic-reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, Dr. Dominique L. Feinendegen (Switzerland) was awarded the title of a visiting professor of ONMedU. Totally, more than 20 foreign scientists have given lectures and reports at scientific events organized by ONMedU departments.
