Dear colleagues and medical community! Unfortunately, our team has suffered a heavy loss. Valentyn Viktorovych Serdiuk, MD, Ph.D., Professor of Traumatology and Orthopedics has passed away.
Valentin Viktorovych Serdiuk was born in 1942 in Mykolaiv. He was a Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor.
He graduated with honors from Odessa Medical Institute named after M.I. Pirogov in 1966.
In 1971 he became an employee of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics of Odessa Medical Institute, going from a graduate student to a professor.
In 1982 he was awarded the honorary title of “Honored Inventor of Ukraine” for the introduction of his scientific developments in the USSR (medical equipment, tools, new methods of treatment), he was awarded one gold, two silver and two bronze medals of the USSR Exhibition of Economic Achievements.
He developed a new direction in traumatology – the use of magnetic therapy in the treatment of severe injuries of the extremities, complicated and uncomplicated by the development of infection, as well as a method of conservative treatment of scoliosis in children and adolescents.
He was the author of 40 inventions, more than 75 innovation proposals, 240 scientific papers, including two scientific discoveries in the field of vertebrology, 7 books, two textbooks on traumatology and orthopedics for foreign students in Russian and English.
He was awarded an honorary diploma of the World Organization of Traumatologists and Orthopedists SICOT for the development of fundamentally new and highly effective methods of conservative treatment of scoliosis, as well as relief of spinal pain.
Among colleagues and students, Valentyn Viktorovych enjoyed a high reputation, gained recognition due to his professional and human qualities. He will forever remain in the memory and hearts of relatives, friends, colleagues, students.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 26, at 1 pm at the Tairovsky Cemetery.
