Odessa National Medical University holds leading positions in Ukraine in the direction of training foreign students and employment of graduates. This was reported during the media marathon “Learning – Light”.
Currently, 3,000 foreign students are studying at ONMedU. According to this indicator, the university ranks 4th among Ukrainian universities. According to the Dean of the International Faculty, Associate Professor of the department of Pathological Anatomy, Candidate of Medical Sciences Eduard Buryachkivskii, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Odessa University keeps such a number of students and continues to attract new ones, guaranteeing them quality training. “We combine academicism with modern educational technologies. We have powerful simulation equipment, we were among the first to implement an objective structured clinical exam that meets all world requirements and reflects the actual level of students. Our international students take this exam at a high level. For example, two years ago, our student from India took first place in the number of points among all graduates of foreign universities who passed the qualification exam in India,” said Eduard Buryachkivskii.
Odessa National Medical University provides students of all faculties with quality practical training. “For many years , a lot of money has been invested in the purchase of modern equipment. We have opened a state-of-the-art research institute, a genetic-molecular institute of cellular pathology. Therefore, our students have all the conditions for the development of practical skills, “- said the head of the Department of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Diagnostics, Deputy Chairman of the Admissions Committee Hennadii Stepanov.
For his part, the dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Volodymyr Anisimov added that future pharmacists are engaged in dtudying pharmacy, as well as internships in pharmacies and pharmaceutical industries. The symbiosis of theoretical and practical training guarantees high demand in the labor market. “The profession is in great demand. We are in constant contact with pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies. In senior courses, employers come to us, hold master classes, select students for internships and jobs. Our employment reaches 100%, “Volodymyr Anisimov said.
He also gave explanations on the rules of the 2021 admusion campaign. ONMedU announces admission of Ukrainian and foreign citizens for the training of specialists in higher education within the license volume in the presence of a license for the first year of the specialties: medicine, dentistry, pharmacy. In addition, there will be admission for the 2nd year of applicants who have a diploma of junior specialist in nursing, junior specialist in pharmacy, junior specialist in dentistry. To enter the first year, depending on the specialization, it is necessary to pass exams in the Ukrainian language, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics (the last three are optional). To enter the 2nd year it is necessary to have a certificate in the Ukrainian language and other subjects taken in the external examination (history, chemistry, physics, etc.). In addition, it is necessary to pass a comprehensive exam, more information about it is published on the ONMedU website. Volodymyr Anisimov also reminded that this year all universities in Ukraine will accept EIT certificates starting from 2018.
