100 outstanding graduates (Oleksandr Hryhorovych Reznikov)
Oleksandr Hryhorovych Reznikov is a well-known scientist in the field of Physiology and Pathophysiology of the endocrine system, doctor of medical sciences, professor, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Scientist and Technician, laureate of the State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR, head of the Reproduction and Adaptation Department of the Institute of Endocrinology and Exchange substances named after V.P. Komisarenko of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine “.
Oleksandr Hryhorovych graduated from OMI named after M.I. Pirogov with honors, and then started medical practice. He worked as the chief physician of the Sukho-Elanets hospital in Mykolaiv region.
In 1965, he worked at the Surgical Academic Council at Kiev Medical Institute named after A.A. Bohomolets. O.H. Reznikov successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic: “Experimental data on the role of the adrenal glands in regulation of intraocular pressure”, which was based on student research materials.
In 1973, Oleksandr Hryhorovych Reznikov organized and headed the laboratory of neurohormonal reproduction regulation, which in 1975 received the status of the International Research Center for Human Reproduction.
In 1974, the young scientist defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: “Characteristics and mechanism of action of dichlorodiphenylidhlorethane and other inhibitors of the function of the adrenal cortex”.
Oleksandr Hryhorovych was a professor at the departments of Physiology at the universities of the USA and Canada for three years. Also taught at the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”. And in 1991 he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, later – a corresponding member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. Since 1997 O.G. Reznikov is the chief researcher, consultant of the State Pharmacological Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Oleksandr Hryhorovych Reznikov is one of the founders of neurotreatment (the science of the violation of sexual differentiation of the brain, the syndrome of prenatal stress). He substantiated the new direction of medicine – Preventive neuroendocrinology, he is the author of the theory of hormone neurotransmitter imprinting of the brain, which has received international recognition.
He proposed new methods of diagnosis and treatment of endocrine and oncological diseases, developed schemes and optimized criteria for preclinical study of antiandrogens, as well as drugs for the treatment of obesity, hormonal and neurotropic drugs.
For his outstanding scientific achievements O.h. Reznikov was awarded the State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR in the field of science and technology, the prize named after Academician O.O. Bohomolets of Academy of Sciences of the UkrSSR, Academic Prize in Theoretical Medicine of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Honorary Diploma “Inventor of the USSR”, “Excellence in Health Care”, Honorary Diplomas of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academician V.Ya. Danilevsky medal, VV Podvysotsky Honor Medal of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. And in 1999 he was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine.
Oleksandr Hryhorovych Reznikov is purposeful, exacting to himself and others, a model of a true modern scientist and, undoubtedly, an outstanding graduate of Odessa National Medical University.
