Hundreds of employees of Odessa National Medical University, who do not receive their salary for the second month, are picketing the building of the Odessa Regional State Administration.
The protesters require the head of the OSA to convey to the Cabinet of Ministers the critical situation in the high school and get salaries and scholarships. Let’s remind that 3 thousand employees of ОNMedU and one third of 14 thousand students have not received their salaries and scholarships since January as the Ministry of Health refused to approve the budget of the university for 2019.
According to the people’s deputy Igor Mosiychuk, who arrived at the campaign, the staff of thousands of ONMedU became hostages of personal ambitions of the Minister of Health Ulyana Suprun, who blocks the high school budget on the principle: “I know for sure that Groisman spoke with Suprun, and she said she would not pay money because she believes that if she does, then someone will lose a confrontation in the administration … We will go to Stepanov (Maxim Stepanov, the head of Odessa State Administration), So that he will contact the Cabinet, let them make a decision. Our only requirement is salaries and scholarships. ”
Mosiychuk also called speculation yesterday’s attempt to raider capture the university building, which was led by people’s deputies from BPP David Makaryan and Vladimir Kurennoy. In his opinion, Odessa residents will give an assessment to these actions in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections. “Two deputies stormed the administration building, said they were members of the supervisory board. I have a question, maybe you would go better and ask for a salary to pay people? Yesterday’s agitation, which they conducted for Petro Poroshenko, let them remain in their conscience with broken doors and knocked-out windows. ”
He also said that what’s happening around Odessa Medical University undermines the image of Ukrainian higher education and the judicial system. Since the submission of officials of the highest rank, the law in Ukraine is offset. “All this should happen in the court, in the Cabinet, at the elections at the university, therefore there is a law on education. Or, let’s have the law on education now, we’ll hang in the bathroom on a nail and say that we do not need it “, – Mosiychuk was outraged.
At the meeting with the head of OSA Maxim Stepanov, the initiative group of ONMedU reported that it gives the Cabinet a week to resolve the problem. Upon expiration of this term, the staff of the university will block the route Kiev-Odessa.
Let’s recall, the conflict between the Ministry of Health and the ONMedU has been going on since summer 2018. Then Ulyana Suprun tried to appoint a rector of her candidates – first Konstantin Aimedov, then Vladlena Dubinina. Both decrees were canceled by the court. Personnel rearrangements were accompanied by the seizure of the building. In December 2018 Suprun proposed to reorganize the university, and in January 2019 refused to approve the annual budget.
