Training on providing first aid to victims for secondary school teachers

Developed by the Department of Simulation Medical Technologies, the training on providing first aid to victims for secondary school teachers became a significant event for the community of educators in our city.

This training was developed and implemented within the framework of the Sims grant project and is unique for our region: it includes all the most modern and relevant components: scenario-based learning, the use of one of the “virtual patient” technologies, a significant practical part involving the most modern medical simulators and mannequins.

During the 4-day training, 32 teachers from different schools learned how to provide assistance in case of sudden cardiac arrest (which is increasingly common among children in our region), poisoning with an unknown substance, seizures, carbohydrate metabolism disorders in children and adults, allergic emergencies, and trauma.

The psychological part was also a feature of the trainings: we not only taught teachers how to conduct psychological self-defense against panic attacks and stress, but also how to apply skills that can minimize psychological trauma in the victim.

All trainings took place in friendly and mutually motivating circumstances.

We hope that this event will be the first in the entire chain of interaction between our university and the education department of the city administration.
