ONMedU team congratulates Valerii Mykolaiovych Zaporozhan on his birthday!

The teaching staff and students congratulate the Rector, the Chairman of the Academic Council of ONMedU, Academician VValerii Mykolaiovych Zaporozhan on his birthday!

Valerii Mykolaiovych devoted all his life to Odessa Medical University. After graduation from the Faculty of Medicine in 1971, he remained to work at ONMedU and went from a senior laboratory assistant to the head of the department and rector of our Alma Mater. His contribution to the development of scientific, medical, educational work of the university is invaluable. Under the leadership of Valerii Mykolaiovych, Odessa Medical University went through the most difficult historical periods, became a leader in medical education, one of the most modern and respected universities in Ukraine and Eastern Europe.

Our rector has assembled a powerful team and restored our faith that there are no unattainable goals. We were the first in Ukraine to study English, opening our doors to foreign students and international cooperation. We have preserved a unique base, developed scientific schools, multiplied the achievements of outstanding teachers. ONMedU was the first in the country to revive the University Clinic, which became the basis of a competency-based approach to teaching students and quality medical services received by residents of southern Ukraine.

Dear Valerii Mykolayovych, for the thousands of staff of Odessa University and many generations of our graduates, you are a scientific supervisor, an undisputed leader and moral example, a talented scientist and mentor who will always lend a hand. Your creative and scientific path inspires, your wisdom and poise give confidence in the future, your energy and unbridled thirst for development – charges everyone around.

We wish you good health for many years, inspiration and success in implementing the most ambitious plans. We sincerely wish peace, development and prosperity. May your love for life and people, optimism, kindness and sensitivity never leave you, and may they continue to serve as a guide for us!
