Meeting of the Academic Council

On March 28, under the chairmanship of the rector, Academician Valerii Zaporozha, another meeting of the Academic Council of Odesa National Medical University was held in a mixed format.

At the beginning of the meeting, Valerii Zaporozhan congratulated Mircheva Veronika, a 5th-year student of the Faculty of Medicine, and presented her with a certificate for active participation in international cooperation with Queen Mary University of London under the academic mobility program and participation in the development of the program “Instrument for predicting the viability of the injured lower limb”.

The first issue on the agenda was to support the decision of the Academic Council of the Ukrainian Military Medical Academy regarding the nomination of the head of the Department of Military Pharmacy of the Faculty of Training of Military Doctors, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Honored Worker of Pharmacy of Ukraine, Professor Oleksandr Petrovych Shmatenko for the vacancy of a valid corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

The issue of nominating pedagogical workers for awarding by the Odesa City Council for Science Day was discussed.

The head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Professor Oksana Dienha, reported on the contribution of dental departments to the further development of scientific schools in recent years and future prospects.

The project “Information Security Policy of Odesa National Medical University” and a number of Regulations on the University’s subdivisions were submitted for consideration by the Academic Council.

The results of pedagogic professional development with a total of 6 ECTS credits were approved, the creation of a one-time specialized board for the defense of a dissertation work by Marta Huda, a part-time graduate student of the department of surgery, and the decisions on specialized one-time boards and the issuance of a doctor of philosophy diploma to A. D. Zheleznyak, M. I. Velikanov, A. F. Yevchev, R. S. Chistyakov were made.

The topic and reviewers for the preliminary examination of the doctoral dissertation of the associate professor of the Department of Histology, Cytology, Embryology and Pathological Morphology with a course in forensic medicine, Doctor of Medicine. N. O. I. Tiron on the topic “Pathophysiological mechanisms of thermal lesions of the thyroid gland and their experimental pharmacotherapy”, as well as the certificate program of professional development “Thematic improvement of topical issues of the work of pharmaceutical specialists in modern conditions” at Odesa National Medical University were approved.

By secret ballot, a decision was made to assign the academic rank to:

— Associate Professor of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics -PhD of Medicine.  L. L. Butenko

— Associate Professor of the Department of Hygiene and Medical Ecology – PhD of Medicine.  O. V. Horoshkov

— Associate Professor of the Department of Dermatology and Venereology – PhD of Medicine.  L. O. Kovtun

Recommendations were given for the publication of the educational manual “Management of patients with comorbid therapeutic pathology in surgical practice” edited by Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine V. M. Zaporozhan and Professor O. B. Voloshina, as well as “Odesa Medical Journal”, No. 1, 2024.
