On April 23, 2024, teachers and students of Odesa National Medical University held a master class for primary school students on the topic “First aid for children with injuries” at Odesa Lyceum “European”.
The master class was developed by the teachers of the department of pediatrics propaedeutics and simulation medical technologies of ONMedU on the basis of the international training Basic Life Support Course within the framework of the implementation of the Erasmus + international project Simulation medicine and scenario-based learning in emergency care (SimS, “Simulation medicine and Scenario-based learning for emergency care”). The event was timed to the annual safety week “Safe childhood – the future of Ukraine”.
The children were introduced to how to stop bleeding at home and provide first aid to the victim before the ambulance arrives. Schoolchildren practiced first aid skills in small groups on mannequins.
Teaching children first aid skills in today’s conditions is extremely important, as it will enable children to respond correctly to an emergency situation and not get lost at a critical moment.
