Internship: admission to the internship to the intramural form of training begins

Getting a diploma at a medical university in Ukraine does not mean that a graduate is already a doctor. Before starting to work as a doctor, a young specialist must necessarily complete an internship with the purpose to improve theoretical knowledge and practical skills, and increase readiness for independent professional activity.
The duration of the training depends on the chosen specialty – from 1 to 3 years.
The place of internship depends on the choice of a young specialist in the last 10 years. Internship at ONMedU has always attracted not only its students, but also graduates of other medical universities of Ukraine. This is due to a good level of education and constant introduction of the latest technologies into teaching. For example, ONMedU is the first university in the country where University Clinics were restored and the only one where simulation classes were equipped.
Now, at Odessa Medical University, as well as at prestigious western medical institutions, students and interns are taught on technological simulators and bio mannequins. Mannequins “adults” get veins cathetered and teeth removed, mannequins “new-borns” get massaged and intubated, mannequins “pregnant women” undergo ultrasound examination and resuscitation. Surgical interventions are worked out on mannequins as well, bleedings are arrested and deliveries are performed. Future surgeons are taught all types of surgical techniques with the help of computerized simulators, at the same time the material from which the simulator is made, responds to the actions of the “surgeon” almost as “living tissue”. After such training intern really becomes a doctor.
“This year, 600 interns who studied at our university have been successfully certified and received a certificate of professional doctors. Now the admission to the internship begins to the intramural form of training. And as always, besides our students, graduates of Vinnytsya, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk medical universities are trying to join us “, – notes the dean of the Department of Post-graduate Education of ONMedU Korniienko Svitlana Mikhailivna.

Reception on personal issues is carried out by the employees of the Dean’s Office of the FPE every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 14.00 to 17.00.
