On February 16, 2022, by order of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, a state holiday was established — Unity Day.
Many of us remember those troubling times when reports began to spread about a possible invasion of the territory of our state by Russian troops. And there were serious reasons for this: in the winter of 2022, Russia withdrew troops and equipment to the Ukrainian border. Among the possible dates of the invasion was February 16.
The President called on Ukrainians to be patient and calm and announced this date as the Day of Unity of Ukraine: “We are told that February 16 will be the day of the attack. We will make it the Day of Unity,” Volodymyr Zelenskyi emphasized in his address.
However, there was a big, cruel war ahead, and for two years now Ukrainians have shown patriotism and solidarity in the fight against a ruthless enemy both at the front and in the rear, and everyone feels pain in their hearts for tens of thousands of lost lives, for destroyed cities and villages, roads and enterprises, hospitals and schools, kindergartens and architectural monuments… In the unity of efforts and unity of feelings of the entire people, the guarantee of our Victory!
Let’s unite!
