ONMedU employees were invited to the VI International Congress of the Polish Urogynecological Society

On May 22–24, 2025, the VI International Congress of the Polish Urogynecological Society “Modern Trends and Challenges in Urogynecology” was held in Rzeszow (Poland).

Urogynecology is one of the promising and rapidly developing areas of modern medicine. It is an adjacent interdisciplinary direction that covers the problems of female urology, related to a number of common gynecological diseases. Modern gynecological practice is impossible without knowledge and skills in urogynecology. That is why the VI International Congress of the Polish Urogynecological Society — one of the largest in recent years dedicated to this topic — is very important for improving the skills of both gynecologists and urologists.

The program of the event was very rich. Seven sessions addressed issues related to diagnostics, conservative and surgical treatment of  prolapse of genitals (genital prolapse), urinary incontinence, etc. Leading European scientists and specialists in surgery in gynecology, urology and proctology shared their experience and knowledge.

As recognized experts in this field, the staff of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of ONMedU were invited to the Congress. The Head of the Department, Professor Igor Gladchuk, delivered a report entitled “Surgical Treatment of Stress Urinary Incontinence. Debates – How to Qualify Your Patients?”, and the Associate Professor of the Department and Head of the Gynecological Service of the Into-Sana Clinic Yuriy Chekhanov delivered a report entitled “When and Why to Choose Vaginal Access – What Do We Have in Our Arsenal?” The topics of the presentations are among the leading in the scientific and practical work of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Odessa National Medical University. The speeches of Ukrainian scientists aroused great interest among the participants and received positive feedback.

On the first day of the conference, dedicated to “Live surgery”, Professor Ihor Gladchuk performed a demonstration operation — laparoscopic vaginocervicopexy with a mesh implant with lateral fixation — which was performed as always skillfully, using modern techniques and technologies. This surgical session became one of the most striking events of the Congress, confirming the high professional level of Ukrainian doctors in the international arena.
