ONMedU: the last meeting of the Academic Council in the 2023/2024 academic year has been held

On June 27, the last meeting of the Academic Council of ONMedU  in the 2023/2024 academic year was held, at which a number of important issues of the university’s life were discussed.
The meeting began with the ceremonial part. The Chairman of the Academic Council, Valerii Zaporozhan, congratulated Professor Borys Zaporozhchenko on receiving the Honorary Award from the Odesa City Mayor, presented Honorary Certificates of the Odesa City Council to Professors Yevhen Opra, Hryhoriy Kryvda, and Volodymyr Maidanyuk for many years of conscientious work, exemplary performance of official duties, high professionalism, and significant contribution to development of education and science on the occasion of the Science Day of Ukraine.
The academic council approved the results of the graduation certification of higher education seekers in 2024. The heads of the examination commissions noted that the majority of students had prepared well for the KROK-2 and OSCE state test exams. Compared to previous years, the quality of academic performance and the average score in all specialties increased. Such results became possible thanks to the step-by-step training of the higher education seekers, who, in addition to the knowledge acquired during their studies at the university, were able to systematize it during consultations at the departments and familiarize themselves with the conduct of the OSCE during the trial exam with the passing of all types of planned stations.
Academic Secretary Petro Antonenko informed the Academic Council of the proposal of the Department of Family Medicine and Polyclinic Medicine to petition the Mayor of Odesa, Hennadii Trukhanov, to honor the memory and perpetuate the name of Vitalii Synenko, a graduate and former employee of ONMedU, to name the quarter where he lived after him , namely at the address Velyka Arnautska, 6. Vitaly Synenko joined the defense of our Motherland from the first days of the war, saving the lives of wounded soldiers during evacuation. For conscientious performance of official duties, personal diligence, stability, high professionalism, he received thanks and certificates from the command, was awarded the medal “For Faithful Service” and the cross “Honor and Glory”. Died on May 16, 2023, during the evacuation of wounded defenders from the front line in the Bakhmut district. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree. The motion was approved unanimously.
The vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work, professor Kostyantyn Talalaiev, gave a detailed report on humanitarian education and educational work at ONMedU during the 2023/2024 academic year. According to him, over the past year, there has been an increase in the interest of ONMedU employees and students of higher education in civil, socially significant and volunteer initiatives, there has been an increase in patriotic activity, the emergence of new views and attitudes towards the history, culture, religion, traditions and customs of the Ukrainian people. In general, the current humanitarian and educational work at ONMedU, implemented measures to ensure the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state language at ONMedU during the 2023/2024 academic year can be considered satisfactory.
The “Complex of measures for the organization of the educational process in the 2024/2025 academic year”, the university’s work plans, changes to the rules of admission to ONMedU in 2024 and a number of important Regulations regulating the educational, scientific and medical processes were discussed and approved.
The Academic Council also supported the creation of one-time specialized councils for the defense of dissertations for obtaining the scientific degree “Doctor of Philosophy” and recommended the publication of six study guides and one methodical recommendation, developed with the participation of university employees.
In conclusion, the head of the Academic Council Valerii Zaporozhan thanked all the employees of the university for their conscientious work and wished them a good rest in order to return to work in September with new energy and ideas.
