Danylo Adamenko, a student of ONMedU, is a worthy representative of the team of national instructors of the course “Life support for injuries at the pre-hospital stage”
Since the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine, the International Medical Corps has initiated courses for medics of various specialties and levels.
International Medical Corps is a global non-profit organization that provides health services and health education and training to those affected by disease, natural disasters and armed conflict.
In partnership with the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative to support the Ukrainian people, training courses have been developed that can be useful both for medical personnel (pre-hospital care for trauma, chemical, biological, radiation, explosive hazards, and others) and for non-medical workers (for example, stopping bleeding). Trainings take place in different regions of Ukraine. In general, for more than one and a half years of work in the All-Ukrainian project, about 6,000 Ukrainian medical workers participated in training courses.
Starting from December 2022, instructors of Harvard Humanitarian Initiative will conduct training together with Ukrainian instructors, and in August-September 2023, the number of national instructors significantly increased during the instructor courses in the city of Dnipro, from among whom were selected specialists who took part in the Master- training (Ternopil, January 2024) and got the opportunity to independently train future instructors.
Danylo Adamenko, a 4th-year student of the medical faculty No. 2 of Odesa National Medical University, also joined the team of instructors. According to Oleksandra Demetska, head of training projects and programs at the International Medical Corps representative office, Danylo is a worthy, responsible and charismatic representative of the national instructors of the course “Life support for injuries at the pre-hospital stage”. “He worked together with experts from Harvard Humanitarian Initiative during trainings in Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro during 2023. Successfully completed instructor courses and received a master instructor certificate. Despite his young age, his theoretical knowledge and practical experience make it possible to conduct trainings for emergency medicine doctors, paramedics, representatives of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine at a high level in compliance with all the standards of Harvard Humanitarian Initiative,” Oleksandra Demetska highlighted. And she also added: “Always friendly and communicative, Danylo easily finds a common language both with training participants and with fellow instructors who represent various educational institutions and medical institutions of Ukraine and the United States of America.”
Soon, other students of the institution will undergo the training that Danylo Adamenko underwent, because Odesa National Medical University recently signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the International Medical Corps. This will provide an opportunity to train trainers on the basis of the university to provide assistance in case of mass injuries and work with injuries.
