Memorandum on cooperation with the International Medical Corps

Odesa National Medical University signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the International Medical Corps. The purpose of the Memorandum is to establish cooperation for conducting trauma treatment trainings in Ukrainian institutions of higher medical education.

For academic and medical staff, students and interns of Odesa National Medical University, this is an important step to ensure their continuous professional development.

The International Medical Corps (IMC) is an international humanitarian non-profit organization that provides emergency medical assistance to populations affected by war and disasters in the highest risk areas, as well as long-term medical support and training.

IMC, in partnership with Ukrainian medical universities, conducts training for medical personnel of Ukraine in the provision of trauma care at the pre-hospital and hospital levels. The International Medical Corps and the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI), together with the American College of Surgeons, the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, and the World Health Organization, have developed a variety of training courses in trauma and mass casualty care, as well as in the event of a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive hazards.

The International Medical Corps works in more than 80 countries and has opened offices in many cities of Ukraine. Odesa National Medical University can become a powerful educational hub of Southern Ukraine for IMC. In April this year, the International Medical Corps on the basis of Odesa National Medical University will instruct trainers in the field of work with injuries and providing assistance in case of mass injuries.
