Last year, the well-known Ukrainian infectious disease scientist, professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine, long-time head of the Department of Infectious Diseases of Odesa National Medical University Yevhen Nikitin celebrated his 85th anniversary. He is the author of more than 200 scientific works, author’s certificates for inventions, co-author of the monograph “Medicine of disasters” and the textbook “Organization of the medical service on ships and units of the Navy of Ukraine” and “Infectious diseases”. Professor Nikitin developed a method of predicting acute liver failure in its preclinical stages, which made it possible to reduce mortality in viral hepatitis.
His scientific and life path are worthy of respect and can serve as a model for young scientists and doctors. Although he is already retired, he is still interested in the life of his native department and university, communicates with students and consults patients over the phone. After all, according to Yevhen Vasyliovych, a doctor has no right to abandon his patients.
