100 outstanding graduates (Butenko Hennadii Mykhailovych)

Butenko Hennadii Mykhailovych is a Ukrainian scientist in the field of Gerontology, pathophysiologist, immunologist, Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, laureate of O. Bohomolets Prize of National Academy of Science of Ukraine, State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR in the field of science and technology, State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology, AMNU prize.
He was born in Mirgorod, in the family of a railway engineer. Graduated from Odessa Medical Institute in 1956. After studying, he first worked at the department of Pathophysiology of Odessa and Kyiv Medical Institutes, and then at the Institute of Gerontology at the AMSU. At the same time, he was the head of the Laboratory of Immunology, then Pathophysiology, and since 1992 the Deputy Director for Scientific Work. He investigated the age-old preconditions of the occurrence of pathology, causes and mechanisms of violations of the immune system during aging and the preventive action of various hero-protectors derived mainly from the secretory glands.
Hennadii Mykhailovych is the Director of the Institute of Genetic and Regenerative Medicine of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Head of the Department of Cell and Tissue technologies of the same institute, Head of the Laboratory of Pathophysiology and Immunology of the Institute of Gerontology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
Academician Hennadii Mykhailovych Butenko is the Director of the Research Institute of Genetic and Reproductive Medicine, whose goal is to qualitatively improve the development of domestic biotechnology.
He is the author of more than 430 scientific works, including 5 monographs, 4 manuals, 1 textbook for higher medical institutions, 7 copyright certificates. Prepared 2 Doctors of Science and 17 PhDs.
Much attention in the scientific work of H. Butenko is directed at the fundamental research of stem cell biology, the substantiation of the possibility of their use in the treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular system, neurodegenerative diseases, pathologies of the musculoskeletal system, age-related pathology, assessment of the risk of biological safety of the use of new technologies in regenerative medicine.
