XXIІІ Conference of the Ukrainian Antiepileptic League with international participation “Actual Problems in Conditions of the Epilepsy Pathomorphosis”

On May 16, XXIІI conference of the Ukrainian Antiepileptic League with international participation “Actual Problems in Conditions of the Pathomorphosis of Epilepsy” began its three-day work in the conference hall of the Jewish Center “Beit Grand”.
A strong and powerful team that heads the Ukrainian division of the International Antiepileptic League under the direction of Professor Andrii Yevhenovych Dubenko (Kharkiv) with the assistance of the Department of Neurology, Odessa National Medical University (Phd Muratova T.M., Professor Stoyanov O. M .) held the 18th conference on the land of Southern Palmyra.
The reports were made by leading domestic and foreign specialists working in the field of epileptology.
In particular, Professor Meir Bialer (Israel), Professor Milan Brazdil (Head of the Department of Neurology, Brno, Czech Republic), Yevhen Trinka (Austria), Jaidip Kapur (USA), David Ghenshal (Ireland), Stefan Riogg (Switzerland) and Yurii Kropotov (Russian Federation).
Domestic experts, including Prof. Andrii Dubenko (Kharkiv), Tetiana Litovchenko (Poltava), Tetiana Muratova (Odesa), Aleksandr Stoyanov (Odessa), Ruslan Vastianov (Odesa), Hennadii Zubov (Odessa) and others shared the results of their own clinical observations and experimental studies with the listeners.
Broad aspects of the current state of affairs in the field of epileptology, starting with new data on the pathogenetic mechanisms of chronic convulsive syndrome to the evolution of views on the polymorphism of epileptic encephalopathies in children were discussed. The listeners’ attention was undoubtedly attracted by the report of Odessa scientists regarding the problem of late post-stroke epilepsy. There was also a broad discussion on the issues related to the rational tactics of pharmacological therapy of seizures and the search for optimal anticonvulsant schemes.
At the end of the conference (May 18), the President of the Ukrainian Association of Neurophysiologists, Hennadii Zubov, told about the prospects of clinical neurophysiology.
