Due to the widespread prevalence of acute cerebrovascular disorders, the severity of the disease, the complexity of the rehabilitation of the disease consequences, and the necessity to raise awareness among students and young scientists in the issues of rehabilitation of patients with acute cerebrovascular disorders, the Society of Young Scientists and the Student Scientific Society together with the trade union committee of ONMedU jointly with the university clinic and departments of ONMedU held a scientific and practical seminar for students and young scientists “Topical Issues of Rehabilitation of Patients with Acute Cerebrovascular Disorders “on April, 5.

During the day 12 reports of leading specialists in the field of treatment and rehabilitation of cerebral stroke were heard. New interesting approaches to treatment and cases from the clinical experience of recognized health workers, such as: Chief Doctor of the University Clinic of ONMedU, Head of the Department of Neurology, Associate Professor T.M. Muratova, Head of the Department of Physical Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine, Physical Education and Valeology, Professor O.G.Yushkovska, Professor of the Department of Neurology, M.D. O.M.Stoyanov, Head of the Stroke Service of the University Clinic of ONMedU, Associate Professor of the Department of Neurology, D.M.Khramtsov, Associate Professor of the Department of Neurology V.V.Dobrovolsky, Head of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Professor I.P.Shmakova, Head of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Yu.Yu.Morshnev, Associate Professor G. A Shapovalova, PhD Medicine V.S.Volyanska, assistant professor of the Department of Neurology, PhD Medicine Yu. M Vorokhta, speech therapist of the University Clinic of ONMedU N.V.Musorina, physician-rehabilitator of the University Clinic of ONMedU S.A.Kotov, were reported.

After the theoretical part, students and young scientists had an opportunity to improve and master their practical skills at the level of world standards with the latest advancements in diagnosis and determination of therapeutic tactics in oropharyngeal dysphagia and kinesiotherapeutic taping as well as to learn to calculate scores on the NIHSS scale (Stroke Severity Scale of National Institutes of Health of the United States) correctly. The material presented by the rehabilitation physician of the university clinic of ONMedU S.A. Kotov and the assistant professor of the department of neurology, PhD Medicine Yu. M.Vorokhta was based on the most modern neurology and rehabilitation medicine consensus and protocols.

In order to control the quality of knowledge received by the participants of the seminar during the day of their active work, the organizers held a brainstorming session «Modern Approaches to the Rehabilitation of ADCC”. This intellectual competition included all the issues considered during the reports and trainings. The team of winners received modern books on neurology and stroke, and a unique opportunity for training in the modern stroke service of the University Clinic of ONMedU under the guidance of its head, associate professor D. M.Khramtsov.
