Scientific and educational activities of the scientific circle of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology ONMedU

On September 4-5, 2025, a Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation was held, dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Odessa National Medical University. Higher education students, as part of the circle of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and under the guidance of mentors, presented their scientific works with dignity.

In the section “Surgery” – KIR’YAKOVA Darya (head of the circle of the department, 6th year student of the Faculty of Medicine) made a report on the topic: “Temporal parameters of exposure during ICG mapping of sentinel lymph nodes in patients with early stages of cancer of the body and cervix.” Among the many participants of the section, she received a Diploma of the 2nd degree and a Diploma “Best Presentation” (according to the audience). Scientific supervisor – Dr. Med. Sci., Prof., Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology – HLADCHUK Ihor.

STOLYAR Alina (5th year student of the Medical Faculty) made a report on the topic – “Recurrence of endometrial polyps in women of reproductive age” and received a certificate of participation. Scientific supervisor – Ph.D., Asst. PANCHUK Elina.

In the poster section, KAMENSKA Sofia (5th year student of the Medical Faculty) presented her scientific work on the topic “The role of infectious factors in the development of isthmic-cervical insufficiency in the second trimester of pregnancy” and received a certificate of participation. Scientific supervisor – Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. NADVORNA Olena.

The work of KIR’YAKOVA Daria was recognized as the “Best Clinical Report” and was presented at the solemn closing of the conference, the second plenary session.

Also, on September 5, the department held an interactive educational event in the quest format. Students worked with cards containing questions and answer options dedicated to the topic of HIV and AIDS: ways of transmission of infection, the basics of the legislative framework, the issue of tolerant attitude towards HIV-positive people. Such a game not only interested the participants, but also contributed to increasing the level of students’ awareness and the quality of knowledge in this important area.

On September 16, 2025, the first meeting of the circle of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology took place, which was solemnly opened by the head of the department, Dr. Med., Prof.- GLADCHUK Igor, who congratulated the circle members on their victories at the conference and wished them new scientific achievements, inspiration and fruitful work!

The scientific leader of the circle, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department STEPANOVICHUS Olena, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. In her speech, she summarized the results of the students’ participation in the conference, noted their achievements and outlined the main areas of activity of the circle for the new academic year.

The circle of the department creates all the conditions for applicants to study and improve in a high-quality way. This is a modern base – classrooms, simulation classes and clinical departments, equipped with the latest equipment, where you can practice skills from simple manipulations to complex clinical cases. Experienced mentors: professors, associate professors and assistants of the department accompany the group members at every stage of their studies, help them choose scientific topics, prepare reports and studies.

The group is also a platform for developing research skills, working with literature, writing scientific papers, preparing articles and presentations. Every year, the group members represent the university at all-Ukrainian and international forums, where they repeatedly become winners and prize-winners.

The group of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a place where there is everything necessary for learning: modern resources, simulators, experienced mentors and opportunities for scientific and professional growth.
