On June 4, 2020, a regular meeting of the Academic Council of ONMedU took place remotely.

Scientific Secretary Professor O.L. Appelhans acquainted the Academic Council with the proposal of the Association of Neonatologists of Ukraine to award Dr.of Med.Sciences, Ph.D., Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine M.L. Ariaev with the state award – Honorary title “Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine”. The Academic Council unanimously supported this proposal.
Vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work, Associate Professor K.O. Talalaiev reported on changes in the legislation of Ukraine on the procedure for competitions to fill vacancies in universities. The Academic Council approved the relevant changes in the “Procedure for competitive selection when filling vacant positions of research and teaching staff and making employment agreements (contracts) with them.”
The Deputy Chairman of the Admissions Committee, Associate Professor H.F. Stepanov, reported that in connection with the epidemic of coronavirus disease the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine changed the terms of the admission campaign. The Academic Council approved the relevant changes in the Rules of Admission in 2020.
The documents regulating the work of the educational centers “Crimea-Ukraine” and “Donbass-Ukraine” on the basis of ONMedU were also discussed and approved. “Regulations on the admission of foreign citizens to study” and “Regulations on the issuance of invitations to foreign applicants”.
Acting Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching Professor O.A. Shandra reported on the procedure for accreditation of post-graduate department. The Academic Council also approved reviewers and opponents to defend completed dissertations, guarantors and the postgraduate accreditation officer.
The head of the planning and economic department N.Z. Kadebska reported on the financial condition of the university and proposals for the redistribution of balances on the special fund of 01.01.2020. The Academic Council approved the allocation of additional funds for the retrofitting of clinical departments.
Acting Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching Professor I.P. Shmakova reported on the need to create an educational and methodological department. The Academic Council supported this proposal, as well as approved licensing cases on the expansion of educational activities in the field of postgraduate education.
The Chairman of the Academic Council, Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine V.M. Zaporozhan stated the need to resolve controversial issues that arose in the process of reorganization of university clinics. “The purpose of the reform is to improve working conditions, increase the financial support of clinics and staff, and optimize management. Any reform must have a human face.” He stressed that no employee should be fired or suffer materially as a result of the reorganization.
The chairman of the trade union committee of ONMedU, Professor Yu. V. Sukhin, reminded that once V.M. Zaporozhan started the tradition of social and material support of workers. “This principled position ensured the preservation of the university and its staff during the trials that we recently experienced together. Caring for people, financial support, humanity, solidarity is our principled position for all time, “- said the chairman of the trade union.
