All departments of Odessa National Medical University are fully prepared for distance learning. This was discussed at a meeting of the Academic Council chaired by the Rector, Academician Valerii Zaporozhan.
Acting Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching, Professor Iryna Shmakova said that all departments have a sufficient number of computers and laptops for distance learning, and teachers – the necessary skills to work, including with the Microsoft Teams platform. All educational and methodical documentation is available, presentations of lectures, practical classes, new algorithms for practicing practical skills, etc. are created. During the lecture, students receive information and multimedia content from the lecturer in real time and can ask questions. The test control is carried out by means of the Online Test Pad system adapted to the curriculum on the basis of STEP-2.
Currently, the educational process of ONMedU continues in a mixed format. From September 1, the university started working full-time, with lectures every Friday. However, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, several student groups are in quarantine – classes with them are held remotely.
“Improving distance learning is a priority for the entire higher education system in the coming years. We have been working in this mode for a year and a half and constantly monitor the quality of this work. I would like to remind you that until October 20 we have a survey among students of 1-6 courses on the quality and effectiveness of distance learning. I encourage all students to join and share their thoughts with us, “said Rector Valerii Zaporozhan.
It will be recalled that as of October 7, more than 87% of university employees and graduates received one or two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. The campaign on vaccination and revaccination in ONMedU continues.
