For the first time the 10 best morphologists of Ukraine were awarded with “V.O. Betz Gold Medal” in the walls of ONMedU

On October 2 – 4, the VII Congress of the Scientific Society of Anatomists, Histologists, Embryologists, Topographers of Ukraine, which brought together representatives of all medical universities, was held at the Department of Normal and Pathological Clinical Anatomy and the Department of Histology, Cytology and Embryology of ONMedU.
For the first time, this significant event for any morphologist, even for the one who deals with the morphology of not the human but the animal, took place in Odessa.
For three days the best morphologists of Ukraine shared their knowledge and experience, tested at their departments, introduced their students-followers and their first scientific steps, discussed the latest achievements in modern morphology.
For the first time in the history of SS AHET of Ukraine existence at the VII Congress, the award ceremony for achievements in morphology was held. 10 outstanding scientists received the highest award of the society the “V.O. Betz Gold Medal” from the hands of the President of SS AHET of Ukraine, corresponding member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Yurii Tchaikovskii. Among the awarded was the head of the Department of Normal and Pathological Clinical Anatomy, Professor O.L. Appelhans.
Another ONMedU staff member – Natalia Antonova – received the Master of Museum Affairs award. In this nomination, she is the only one, as well as u the 120-year-old anatomical museum of Odessa Medical University is the only one in its uniqueness: there is none like this in Ukraine, there are a few in Europe. All members the Congress were unable to hide their admiration from the collections seen in Comparative Embryology, Comparative Anatomy and All Anatomical Preparations.
Members of ONMedU Local Organizing Committee have made great efforts to make the program of the forum interesting and informative for all morphologists. They managed to create an atmosphere of scientific holiday and to awaken the desire of the guests to organize the next Congress in Odessa again.
