Odessa National Medical University returns to normal life: debts to the personnel have been repaid, preparation for the admission campaign is in its midst. It was stated at the meeting of the Academic Council of ONMedU by the head of the council, academician Valery Zaporozhan.
Currently salaries have been paid to employees, almost all students have received scholarships, and prepayments have been made in advance for June. University lawyers continue to work with the Treasury to pay off public service debts as soon as possible, allocating funding for the purchase of medicines, equipment and construction works.
Valerii Zaporozhan thanked the personnel and students who had been shielding the university from destruction and defended their legal rights for many months – for higher education. He highlighed that every attempt to destabilize the situation further unifies the personnel. “Opponents of our university, who today are in opposition to the whole system of higher medical education, do not understand the main thing: all the difficulties that they create for us, unite us even more”.
The agenda of the meeting included six issues. Among them, the results of KROK-2 examination. Indicators of ONMedU proved to be better than in many other medical universities of the country. At the same time, students and specialists have a lot of questions about the quality of tests: a lot of them are incorrect, lots do not have the correct answer, some cannot be solved due to different interpretations, some of the tasks do not meet the standards of treatment at all. In addition, many tasks are too voluminous and require more time than 1 minute. The Board of Heads of the Graduate Departments decided to address to the testing center of the Ministry of Health with a proposal to revise and refine the test tasks – with the involvement of specialists from all medical universities of Ukraine.
At our university, it is necessary to make a plan of additional measures for preparation of students for completion of the integrated exam KROK-2 “General Medical Practice” at each graduate department. The training should be based on KROK-2 testing with the result of 90% of the correct answers.
