During the Quarantine, the Department of Pediatrics # 1 Will Teach Students Remotely Online

During the quarantine period, the Department of Pediatrics No. 1 of ONMedU will teach students remotely online, said the head of the department, Professor Mykola Ariaiev. According to the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Health, all higher education institutions of Ukraine are switching to different forms of distance learning till April 3.

The department will teach students using Zoom. Teachers will be able to communicate verbally and in writing with students, give presentations or other study material, provide test  or thematic assignments. Accordingly, students can submit questions on the topic of the class and get answers.

As Mykola Ariaiev informed, before the introduction of the quarantine, the department prepared appropriate methods for the Association of Pediatricians and Neonatologists. Within the framework of the postgraduate training, the department held remote classes, webinars, workshops, trainings with a large number of doctors on Saturday afternoons. Secondly, with the help of Zoom, students were preparing for KROK.

“Through these two areas of work, we have acquired the skills of communicating with a large number of people, which has become necessary to meet today’s quarantine challenge. Our teachers have adapted the Zoom program for students’ distance learning. On Saturday, March 14, an approbation was conducted: they connected to the system all potential students of the department and explained  the structure and the process of classes to them. While testing, we made sure that the system was working, and on March 16, almost two hundred students simultaneously had their first full day of study online. The attendance of students was almost one hundred percent, and such a form of education was of great interest for them,” Mykola Aryaev emphasized.
