Conducting Classes with the Military Officers of the Naval Forces of Ukraine on Rendering Medical Aid in Extreme and Combat Conditions

In spite of severe weather conditions, a meeting of the military officers of the naval forces of Ukraine was held in Odessa region in March 2018. The constituent of this meeting was scheduled classes on rendering medical aid in extreme and combat conditions. Particular attention was paid to organization of medical support of the personnel of the Naval Forces.

As the First Deputy Commander of the Naval Forces of Ukraine, Rear Admiral O. Neizhpapa noted, this issue is important for maintaining health and saving lives of our defenders. He also emphasized that the medical support and the procedure of organizing evacuation of the wounded are very important, as the combat capabilities of our combat units depend on the skillful and correct actions of the medical service.

The teaching staff of the Department of Disaster Medicine and Military Medicine of Odessa National Medical University conducted classes with the military officers of the naval forces of Ukraine on tactical medicine, and rendering medical aid in extreme and combat conditions, namely on the battlefield, which is the main guarantee of saving lives of the wounded.

They demonstrated high-quality professional knowledge and worked out the skills on a multi-purpose patient life support simulator in battle trauma and traumatic bleeding.

The classes were also held on the “TORS” mannequins for cardiopulmonary resuscitation with light indication and on a multipurpose simulator for restoring the passage of the respiratory tract, which the Department of Disaster Medicine and Military Medicine of Odessa National Medical University is equipped with.

After classes, a practical training for rendering medical aid in combat conditions was carried out for the military officers of the naval forces of Ukraine, after which they had to take a credit-test.
